Dr. Hunter Pope earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1967. He taught math and chemistry for a year in Pensacola, Florida, before joining the U.S. Army. His year of infantry service in Vietnam awarded him the Bronze Star. Dr. Pope entered the UAB School of Dentistry in 1972. Upon graduation in 1976, he served a three-year residency with the U.S. Army Dental Corps in Nuremberg, Germany.

He has been in private practice in Birmingham, Alabama, since 1979. Recognizing the ever-changing technology in dentistry, he is committed to continuing education to offer the most up-to-date procedures for his patients, especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry, the Birmingham District Dental Society, and the Birmingham Society for Advanced Dentistry. Active at Grace Presbyterian Church for 25 years, Dr. Pope has served as deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He enjoys reading, playing racquet-ball, watching Auburn and Alabama football, and attending Broadway plays.
